*** DESQVIEW CONFERENCE RULES ***
Revised 4/25/93
In compliance with Fidonet Echo Policy, the following will be posted at
least once a month. These rules do not replace any valid Fidonet rules
or policy. They may be updated at any time by the Moderator.
ALL USERS WHO POST IN THIS CONFERENCE AGREE TO ABIDE BY THE RULES
STATED HEREIN AND ALL EXISTING FIDONET RULES AND POLICY.
This is the International Fidonet Echomail Conference DESQVIEW. It is paid
for by individual systems who help distribute it. Please follow Conference
Rules to help keep moving DESQVIEW as cost effective as possible.
The Fidonet Echomail Conference DESQVIEW is not owned or operated by
Quarterdeck Office Systems. It is an echomail conference provided by the
Fidonet amateur e-mail network.
Discussions are permitted of DESQview, DESQview/X, QEMM, and other
Quarterdeck products, and how to make these powerful tools work on
your PC in conjunction with other programs and hardware.
All discussions regarding hardware and software shall be of a technical
nature only and must pertain to the operation or enhancement of a
Quarterdeck product. When a discussion goes beyond this, then either
use netmail or another appropriate conference.
This is not a Windows bashing conference or a debate conference on DESQview
vs. Windows. Bashing is strictly off-topic and excessively annoying.
No advertising is permitted. This includes, but is not limited to,
commercial products/services, BBS notices, BBS/other Files Lists.
If you wish to claim an exception, please seek Moderator approval
via netmail in advance of posting of such.
Periodic posts from DVNET and Quarterdeck will be periodically entered in
this conference. These postings are of an informational nature for
Quarterdeck product users and have been approved by the Moderator.
DEBUG/UUENCODE file script postings are NOT permitted. Posting of these
type messages will be considered excessively annoying behavior.
DVNET (Headquarters 1:355/38@fidonet.org) is considered the official method of
distributing files to enhance Quarterdeck products. DVNET member systems have
their file listings available for file request under the magic name DVNET. A
DVNET systems list is published monthly in the DESQVIEW conference or it can be
file requested from 1:355/38 as DVNet.lst. DVN-INF.* is available from any
DVNET system. It contains DVNET policy, setup info, author submission info,
and an application.
Flames or obsenities are not permitted either in posted or quoted form.
LEAVE MODERATING TO THE MODERATOR. If you wish to chastise someone, then do
it via netmail, or netmail the Moderator so that he can take action.
If a Topic or Thread is deemed off-topic by the Moderator, then take any
discussion of such to netmail.
Posting "test" messages, shall be considered excessively annoying behavior.
If in the message header the "From:" field is an alias, then include your
real name at the bottom of the message.
Posting a multi-line or fancy signatures at the bottom of a message is
considered excessively annoying. Frankly, we prefer you do not "sign" your
name at all unless your header name is an alias.
When quoting, quote ONLY pertinent information to get the original point
across. Quoting entire messages, signature/tag/origin lines is considered
excessively annoying behavior.
Discussion of routine Fidonet information should be discussed with your
SysOp or NC, not in this conference.
Eight-bit ASCII characters (>128) or ASCII control codes are NOT permitted,
either in the message header, body, or tag/origin line, except in posting
screen pastes of DESQview PIFs.
Origin lines must follow accepted Fidonet Echomail Policy.
Although this is an International Conference in nature, ENGLISH is the
official accepted language.
This conference may NOT be ported to any other network without the express
written permission of the Moderator.
Questioning Moderator Policy in the DESQVIEW echo shall be considered
excessively annoying. Please use netmail. I am always open to discussion of
echo policy and accept suggestions and comments via netmail.
The Moderators may take part in active discussion in the echo without
necessarily acting in any official capacity, unless the message is signed as:
Keith Wineka, DESQVIEW Moderator Tony Dunlap, DESQVIEW Co-Moderator
